Gemma likes planting vegetables in District 10, she also likes painting and drawing, which is why she’s good at camouflage. She is funny, sarcastic and sweet. She can be really protective of her family and is ready to hurt or kill anyone that hurts them. She trains at their house since she lives in District 10, an outlier district. She trains so that if she goes into the Games she’d have a chance to win, she knows how big of a threat the Careers are. She only has a few friends that are either her age or a year older than her. One of them is Lisa, who is 16 too. They spent time working and training together, they share with each other their secrets. She has two older twin siblings, Scott and Summer. Both of them are really protective of her.

She volunteered for her friend Ally, because Ally has severe PTSD that she got when they were 10, from seeing the peacekeepers shoot workers. She didn't want to be in the games; she just trained in case she got reaped and no one volunteered.
